The Webinar
Join this session to hear the findings of a literature review assessing the economic, social, and cultural impacts of enabling more sustainable and inclusive eBook access in libraries and explore the recently launched ‘case for support’ with 6 recommendations based on this evidence, which is being used to advocate for policy and legislative changes.
Why You Should Attend
In 2023, CILIP and other library associations co-signed a pan-European statement, driven by KR21. The statement underscored the need to ensure that eBook markets work in ways that allow libraries to do their job and fulfil their public interest responsibilities. These demands remain pertinent today, as eBooks are frequently more expensive than their print equivalents, unavailable to libraries, or subject to onerous terms and conditions imposed by vendors. This webinar aims to illustrate why it is essential to continue advocating for equitable eBook access as empowering libraries makes everyone a winner.
