What?
This webinar is an opportunity to get informed about the progress of a study commissioned by the European Commission exploring the role of copyright in facilitating access to digital collections of libraries and other public interest institutions in the context of education and research.
The Webinar
Visionary Analytics (lead partner of the consortium), Ecorys, OK Consulting, and KEA are conducting a study commissioned by the European Commission titled “Copyright in distance education and research: exploring the role of copyright in facilitating access to digital collections of libraries and other public interest institutions.”
The study focuses on public interest institutions (PIIs) in the cultural heritage, education, and research sectors. Therefore, PIIs must be understood as cultural heritage institutions (e.g., museums, archives, libraries, audiovisual heritage institutions), educational establishments (e.g., primary, secondary, vocational, and higher education institutions), and research organisations (e.g., universities, research institutes, think tanks, and research associations). The study aims to gather evidence regarding the role of copyright in facilitating several broad types of interactions, including access to digital collections for PIIs, and the use of these digital collections by PIIs for the particular purpose of distance education and research. Eventually, the study will identify possible avenues to improve and facilitate access to education, culture and research materials.
Why You Should Attend
This webinar will present the scope, approach and timeline to the study. Interested participants will have the chance to get in touch with the study team and identify opportunities to share their lived experiences, challenges and opportunities in areas relevant to the focus on exploring the role of copyright in facilitating access to digital collections of libraries and other public interest institutions.
Programme
Presentation of the project by the core study team, followed by a Q&A session.

She is highly experienced with both executing various qualitative (desk research, interviews, case studies, qualitative content analysis, process tracing) and quantitative (statistical analysis, surveys, counterfactual impact assessment, cost-effectiveness analysis) methods, as well as designing research methodologies for studies and evaluations (including stakeholder consultations). She holds a MA degree in Public Policy Analysis (Magna Cum Laude) from Vilnius University. See her profile. The speaker’s expertise aligns well with the ongoing study exploring the role of copyright in facilitating access to digital collections for public interest institutions.
