Why the UK Needs a Broad Text and Data Mining Exception to Support AI Innovation
The UK government recently held a large-scale AI copyright consultation. Now, the Center for Data Innovation is organising an online webinar to:
- discuss the potential consequences of the UK government’s proposals; and,
- explore how creating a more permissive text and data mining exception would advance the UK’s goals of being competitive in AI without undermining the rights of creators.
Ben White, KR21 Policy Committee co-chair and national coordinator for the UK, is joining the event to promote KR21’s vision of how the UK could position itself at the forefront of the AI revolution by enabling a robust ecosystem for research and innovation to thrive.
Co-panellists for this debate are:
- Ayesha Bhatti | Center for Data Innovation
- Julia Garayo Willemyns | UK Day One Project
- Bertin Martens | Bruegel
